Anthony Bontrager

Anthony Bontrager created Soda Media, Inc. with the goal to provide strategic advice to private family offices and their venture investment portfolio consisting of emerging and established companies within the digital media, e-commerce and software markets.

A globally recognized digital media executive and serial entrepreneur, Anthony has been involved in the launch of numerous companies and has been active in over $500 million worth of strategic funding and acquisitions within the digital media, wireless telecom, advertising and software industries.

Prior to founding Soda Media, Anthony was President of Onecast, Inc. (“1Cast”), where he was responsible for setting overall strategy and establishing key technology and content partnerships. The goal of 1Cast was to make traditional television news programming readily available online,  just minutes after the original broadcast in a personalized newscast format.

Before joining 1Cast, Anthony was President and CEO of Broadstream Communications, Inc., a company he co-founded, which became the telecom industry’s first virtual head-end and middleware platform for IPTV delivery utilizing the MPEG4 video encoding and 16QAM satellite modulation standards.  Under Anthony’s leadership, Broadstream was the first company to secure the largest library of IP-content rights from companies such as NBC-Universal, Disney/ABC, ESPN, Starz, Discovery, Fox, Turner Networks and others. Additionally, Anthony spearheaded the company’s equity and debt financing rounds, which included a $30M strategic partnership with Intelsat, Ltd, the world’s largest satellite owner and operator, and the acquisition of over $70M worth of IP pertaining to the company’s middleware business.  Broadstream was acquired by Avail-TVN (Vubiquity) in 2006.

Anthony currently serves on the advisory boards of a number of promising companies in the technology and media space.  He is a member of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences serving on the Interactive Media Peer Group, as well as the IAB Long-Tail Alliance.  Anthony is also the co-author of Washington State’s Wireless Siting Policies.

A prolific speaker on technology and media, Anthony is regularly featured at events including CES, CTAM, Monaco Media Forum, Digital Hollywood and NAB.
